The new trailer for the latest entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been released. Entitled, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge (Previously known as Dead Men Tell No Tales), the film marks the fifth entry into the franchise and is set to be released this May.
The trailer is the first to be released that is not under the tag line of ‘teaser’, and as a result we are given plenty of new details about the story. It is revealed that the film will be a revenge tale with the, now undead, pirate hunter Capitan Armando Salazar (Javier Bardem) seeking vengeance on the returning Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who condemned him to his ghostly fate.
The trailer shows off the features we have come accustomed to in the series including epic sea battles and the quick quips of Jack Sparrow and company. We also get a first look at series newcomers Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario who play Henry and Carina respectively. Both new characters will star alongside returning cast members Geoffrey Rush, reprising his role as Captain Barbossa for the fifth time, and Orlando Bloom, who returns to the series for the first time since 2007 when he starred in At Worlds End.
The trailer has set Salazar’s Revenge up to be the last of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, stating that this will be the ‘Final Adventure’. Hopefully the film will continue the franchise’s usual charm and action, and serve as a fitting end to the long running series.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge is due to be released in the UK on the 26th May 2017. Until then, check out the latest trailer below:
