Star Wars: Episode VIII title revealed

The title of the highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VIII has today been confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm as The Last Jedi.

In a statement on starwars.com, the organisation said: “We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.”

Following on from the huge commercial and critical success of the most recent Star Wars return films, 2015’s The Force Awakens and 2016’s Rogue OneBrick and Looper director Rian Johnson will be leading the project as director, with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman serving as producers, J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin and Tom Karnowski will serve as executive producers.

Confirmed returning cast members for The Last Jedi include Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Domnhall Gleeson, Peter Mayhew and Andy Serkis. New additions to the cast include Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in cinemas on December 15th 2017. Check out the production teaser below:
