The Edge Reacts To… Guardians of the Galaxy II Trailer

Following our excited reactions two months ago when the film’s first teaser was released, all the Edgelings were excited to recently see the full version of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II trailer. Starring Starlord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), the film promises to delve deeper into the past of the mysterious protagonist’s father and why he was taken from Earth. Below, our Edgelings give their view on the extended trailer:

‘I honestly can’t wait for April to come around so we can finally see this film, which looks JUST as awesome as the first film. Baby Groot has stolen my heart entirely and this first scene between him and Rocket is just GOLD. The little post-title scene with Drax is also hilarious. BRING ON APRIL.’ – Anneka Honeyball, Editor

‘I am Groot! I am Groot I am Groot I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot! I am Groot I am Groot I am Groot I am Groot I am Groot. I am Groot I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. (Did you see what I did there?)’– David Mitchell-Baker, Writer

‘That bickering came in and punched me right in my squishy, found-family loving heart.’– Millie Cassidy, Writer

‘BABY GROOT. BABY. LITTLE TINY ONE. MY HEART. The rest of the trailer was sick too, and brought back all the fun of the original, and everything that made it feel so new and unique. The last scene in the trailer had me creasing up- Drax is hilarious. But mostly my thoughts are just BABY GROOT, MY TINY CUTE LITTLE BEBE’– Rehana Nurmahi, Features Editor

‘BRING ON MAY ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!’– Robert Pratley, News Editor

*Yawn*- Conor Kavanagh, Culture Exec

This trailer was out of this world! I’m so excited to see more of everyone’s favourite Guardians, especially the adorably mischievous Baby Groot. The dynamic between them looks just as good, if not better than the first film. I’m feeling decidedly starstruck – how much longer until April?’ – Holly Hammond, Writer

‘Baby Groot almost brought me to tears with the cuteness! The whole thing just looks awesome…but mainly baby Groot‘- Hollie Geraghty, Film Editor

‘This trailer was awesome! GOTG Vol 2 looks like it’s going to be a great continuation of the first film. Everything from the backing track, to the relations between characters and spacey alien stuff has the essence of the first gotg, but it’s intriguing to see what’s new like the character Mantis and the planets we glimpse in this trailer. Beyond excited for April!!’ – Fern Bowdery, Writer

‘This trailer really reminded me what I loved so much about the first film; the characters, the humour, the music (I’m very much looking forward to the new soundtrack!) and I’m excited to see where the characters go from here, and how they grow, especially Baby Groot – even at such a young age, his words continue to inspire!’– Sophie Jones, Writer

‘I’m just Marvel-ing at how Grootiful it is. I would go to Drax-tic measures to see this film, what Gamora could you ask for?’– Ashleigh Millman, Deputy Editor.

VERDICT: As like before, every Edgeling (besides Conor, who hates everyone) likes this latest longer trailer. Chris Pratt is at his finest, but Vin Diesel steals the show as the adorably funny Baby Groot. I think I speak for everyone here when I say- BRING ON MAY!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. II will be released in the UK on 5th May 2017. Check out the trailer below:
