From Westeros to a galaxy far, far away… Emilia Clarke has been cast as the female lead in the forthcoming Han Solo spin-off movie.

The British actress, who is best known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, will be playing the as yet unspecified female lead in the Star Wars anthology film.

Directed and exec produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film is also set to star Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian.

The film is said to be set before the events of A New Hope, like the upcoming anthology Rogue One. It has also been reported that Clarke’s involvement will not affect the production schedules on either this film or the final seasons of Game of Thrones.

The as-yet-untitled Han Solo spin-off is currently slated to arrive in cinemas on 25th May 2018.
