Newest Assassin’s Creed trailer released – Watch

The latest trailer for the big screen adaptation of the Ubisoft gaming hit Assassin’s Creed was released earlier today, via 20th Century Fox’s official Twitter account.

This second trailer provides us a much greater look at Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender), both when captured by the claudestine dystopian Abstergo corporation, and also when in the Animus, taking on the life of his ancestor Aguilar during the 15th century Spanish Inquisition.

Although the eerie voiceover declares this Callum’s “second chance”, you can see the genuine fear, power and control Abstergo has over him. The awesome leaps and action shots, not to mention the aerial assassinations gives it the “real” feeling, and fans of the game series may feel nostalgia as the film shifts back to more ancient history, in an era similar to that of the infamous Ezio Auditore arc.

The trailer interlaces the more modern battle of hacking into the Animus to oppose Abstergo with some brilliantly choreographed battle and action sequences which show the true skill, will, power and stealth of the Assassin tribe.

Michael K. William’s dual role of Baptiste (who previously appeared in Assassin’s Creed: Liberation) and Moussa, as well as the very promising Ariane Labed as Maria, another 15th century assassin seem inspired castings. Jeremy Irons as Alan Rikkin is also suitably menacing at the head of the enigmatic Abstergo.

Assassin’s Creed is set to be released 21st December 2016 in cinemas. Watch the new trailer below:
