Disney has confirmed a release date for the live-action Mulan remake.

After a year and a half of waiting, a release date has finally been announced for the remake of the Disney classic. Allegedly a combination of the classic Chinese story and the original animated film, the new live-action script has been re-written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The live-action remake of Mulan will mark Disney’s seventh of such projects after the recent success of other similar films such as Alice in Wonderland which took over $1billion worldwide.

Disney reportedly plans to issue a global casting call to secure a Chinese actress to play the famous heroine. Whilst no one has yet been attached to the role, Ming-Na Wen previously voiced the character in the 1998 animated film whilst Lea Salonga sang for the role. With production on the fast track to be completed in time, an actress is likely to be announced soon.

The production team will include Jason Reed, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner, but no director has been confirmed yet.

Mulan will be released November 2nd, 2018 in the UK. Get down to business and watch the trailer for the 1998 animated film below:
