Our first look at the upcoming sci-fi flick Passengers has finally hit our small screens, and things seem to go from bad to worse for space travelers Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.
Pratt and Lawrence portray Jim Preston and Aurora Dunn, two of 5,259 passengers that have left Earth on the Starship Avalon; a ship destined for the planet known as ‘Homestead II’. The passengers are asleep in hibernation pods, making the 120-year journey instantaneous. However, Preston and Dunn are the only two passengers mistakenly awakened, and are left stranded on the spaceship 90 years away from their destination.
Passengers, directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), has been circulating around Hollywood since 2007, in the form of a script by Jon Spaihts. It’s been passed around the Hollywood studios with multitudes of different cast members attached to the project, including Keanu Reeves and Reese Witherspoon. The final cast of Pratt, Lawrence, Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne and Aurora Perrineau were announced between February 2015 to January 2016.
Passengers is to be released on December 21, 2016.
