Apple and Nintendo are bringing Mario to the iPhone

Announced at Apple’s launch on Wednesday, Apple and Nintendo have teamed up to create ‘Super Mario Run‘, made for iOS.

In this somewhat simplistic side-scrolling platformer, Mario automatically runs to the right, so all the player has to do is tap the screen to jump. It’s not as if this is a new concept- other platformers have already done this successfully, but the Super Mario brand is without a doubt a major pulling power for Apple. You can see the game in action here.

When asked about this new and unique project, the creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, said it will only have a one-time cost and despite not having a release date yet, will be out for the: ‘holiday season’.

On the other hand, Apple CEO Tim Cook is: ‘honored’ that Nintendo are bringing the game to iOS first.

Will this mean PokémonGo has met it’s match? Or will this partnership just fizzle out like Bowser’s flames?
