Nine Inch Nails single rumor a hoax, publishing company says

Much to Nine Inch Nails fans dismay, the rumour floating around that the band are set to release a new single next month is a hoax, according to the band’s publishing company.

The news comes after a listing appeared on Discogs – an online music database – suggesting that the band would release a new single entitled ‘Dive and Slam’ in September. This appeared on the site on Wednesday (August 3rd), with the band’s label Columbia marked as the ‘contracting party’ on the listing.

Kobalt Music have issued a statement in regards to the rumor, stating: “Kobalt Music dismisses any claims related to a recent hoax where falsified information and images of a fictitious Nine Inch Nails release were posted on the web.

“As an established leader in both music and technology, Kobalt maintains the highest standards of security, integrity, and transparency in the industry.”

Frontman Trent Reznor also addressed the rumors, tweeting: ‘Not true’ in response to the listing on Discogs.

This comes as a disappointment to many fans, as Reznor tweeted late last year that there would be “New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too.”
