At San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Marvel have released a host of information about their upcoming film, Black Panther.

The film will see the continuation of their Cinematic Universe into the fictional nation of Wakanda after it was introduced in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year.

Marvel finally confirmed the rumours of Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan’s inclusion in the cast as Nakia and Erik Killmonger respectively. In addition, it was announced that Danai Gurira would portray Okoye, the head of the Dora Milaje, who are the personal bodyguards of the Black Panther.

At the Black Panther panel, director of the film, Ryan Coogler discussed Comic Con as a whole, saying: “This is emotional for me. In 2009 I came to my first Comic-Con and I sat way, way, way back.” Coogler went on to reveal that filming would begin in January 2017.

Black Panther will be released 9th February 2018 in the UK, and 16th February 2018 in the US. You can see Black Panther in action below.
