After rumours, and photos, and amidst all the social media drama, Tom Hiddleston has confirmed that he and Taylor Swift are genuinely in a relationship.

Although the actor previously refused to comment, either saying “I’d prefer not to answer that question” or “I’d rather just talk about my work if that’s alright”, after many fans speculated that the relationship was purely a publicity stunt or for a project; he has denied this.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hiddleston stated: “The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we’re very happy. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”

The pair met at the Met Gala a few months ago, and pictures emerged of them kissing near Swift’s home in mid-June. These came just a fortnight after reports of Taylor’s Swift split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.

This is the first time that either of the pair have offered any sort of public comment on their widely discussed relationship. The comment comes in the same week that Taylor Swift was revealed to have written Calvin Harris’ summer hit ‘This is what you came for’; sparking a series of tweets from Harris in which he told Taylor that he did not appreciate her, and her team trying to attack him, though also confirming the statement.

Hiddleston was listed as an Emmy nominee this week for his role as Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager, for which he garnered much attention and praise. As well as this, he is currently filming in Australia for the next sequel in Marvel’s Thor series, Thor: Ragnarok. Although we hope that his addressing the press will calm the ‘Hiddleswift’ mania, we hope more than that that people would appreciate the actor for his wonderful acting ability.
