Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will have a female villain

It has been reported that Elizabeth Debicki will be playing the main villain Ayesha in the upcoming sci-fi Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Given the success and popularity of the first film, it hardly came as a surprise when Marvel announced they had greenlit a sequel for phase three of their movie plans.

Outside the returning cast of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, and Vin Diesel, who are all reprising their roles from the first film, they are joined by Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Chris Sullivan as Taserface and Tommy Flanagan as Tullk. Elizabeth Debicki had also been cast in the film, but until now, her role had remained uncertain.

According to this Joblo exclusive, Debicki – who recently appeared in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Night Manager – will be taking on the role of Ayesha; a blonde goddess-like being created by the Enclave, a group of scientists hell-bent on taking control of the world. Ayesha is also known as Her, and is considered the perfect being, but more notably for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she is the partner of Adam Warlock, also known as Him. Warlock’s introduction will be a game changer for the MCU as the gradual shift towards Infinity War Part One begins.

If Debicki is indeed playing Ayesha, you can be sure she won’t be making life easy for Peter Quill and his ragtag band of hero vigilantes. And on a wider note, it will mark a definite change in the MCU as it shifts towards the Infinity War arc.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due to be released on 5th May 2017. Watch the trailer for the first film below.
