BABYMETAL, the J-pop/modern metal mash-up, are the newest additions to Download Festival’s 2016 line-up.

The trio, acclaimed for their thundering and energized performances, will return to the UK off the back of their sold-out show at Wembley Arena to join the main-stage at Donington Park’s biggest event of the year.

Download Festival, held from 10th-12th July, already promises performances from the likes of headliners Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Rammstein, as well as supporting acts Don Broco, All Time Low and Korn. The acclaimed festival is an annual celebration of the world’s best and brightest figures of rock and metal, attracting over 85,000 fans of all ages.

2016 marks BABYMETAL’s main-stage debut, having joined Dragonforce on stage last year for a surprise, high-energy rendition of ‘Gimme Chocolate’. The group, with their self-proclaimed mission to ‘bring metal to the world’, have spoken about the announcement, saying: “We’re so excited to come back to the UK next month! We will play the main stage at Download Festival. We are looking forward to seeing you all there.”
