It has been confirmed that Laverne Cox will star in FOX’s TV remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Cox will take the lead role as Dr. Frank-N-Further, the character that was previously portrayed by Tim Curry in the original Broadway cast and film, the latter of which was released back in 1975.

The two-hour TV special will be a 21st century re-imagining of the cult classic and is due to be aired sometime in late 2016.

Laverne Cox is already a TV sensation, starring in the Netflix hit Orange is the New Black – a show that has allowed her to make history as the first transgender actor to ever be nominated for an Emmy.

Despite initial speculation, Cox being confirmed as the remake’s star is sure to build intrigue.
