Megan Fox is set to join the cast of New Girl in a recurring role for the show’s upcoming fifth season. Fox will be stepping in to cover Zooey Deschanel, who will be on maternity leave for the majority of the season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, several episodes into the season, Jess (Deschanel) will be called up for jury duty, leaving her isolated and unexposed to the outside world.
During this period, Fox’s character, Reagan – who is described by Fox as a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales reps who comes to town on business” – will rent out Jess’ room in the LA loft and “shake things up.”
Fox will make her first appearance in the sixth episode of season five, which is scheduled to premiere in America in January. The role will mark Fox’s first major TV show role in ten years after leaving ABC’s Hope & Faith where she was a series regular before she made the jump to Hollywood in Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise.
