Tom Hiddleston has shared the first clip from his upcoming film, I Saw The Light.

The British actor, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, took to Twitter to debut the minute-long teaser ahead of the film’s premiere at the Toronto Film Festival tomorrow (Friday 11th September).

The biopic, directed Marc Abraham, follows the tragically short-lived career of legendary US country music star, Hank Williams (Hiddleston) – a talented musician who struggled with alcoholism and a dangerous addiction to painkillers. Elizabeth Olsen also stars as Williams’ wife, manager and duet partner, Audrey Sheppard.

Among other things, the clip sees Hiddleston showing off his well-versed American twang, as he croons to Williams’ classic track, ‘Move It On Over’. In an exclusive Q&A at the Nuffield Theatre earlier this year, Hiddleston remarked that the live performances involved in preparation for the role made him realise “why rock stars stay rock stars until they die.”

I Saw The Light is set to be released in US cinemas on 27th November, with a UK release date yet to be announced. Watch the teaser clip below.
