It has been revealed that Annabeth Gish will reprise her role as Special Agent Monica Reyes in the upcoming X-Files revival.
Gish appeared in the midst of David Duchovny’s departure in the eighth season of the show, with her character Reyes involved in the search for Mulder’s whereabouts. Gish joined the show alongside Robert Patrick, who played Special Agent John Doggett – Scully’s new FBI partner in the wake of Mulder’s disappearance. Both Reyes and Doggett had a history together as partners, and became something of a replacement for Mulder and Scully in the ninth season.
The inclusion of Reyes is a welcomed return, further cementing the continuation of the series that ended on the small screen in 2002 – especially after the recent news that The Lone Gunmen will also be returning. As yet, there has been no news to suggest that Patrick will also be returning to the show, but at this point, anything can happen.
The tenth season of The X-Files is set to premiere on FOX on 24th January 2016.
