A new documentary about the Back to the Future franchise is set to be released this October.

Just in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, the documentary – which is entitled Back in Time – will take a look back at how the sci-fi classic came to be, as well as taking a look at how the film still attracts audiences today. The documentary features interviews with actors Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson.

It will also feature interviews with director Robert Zemeckis, producer Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Bob Gale. Huey Lewis and The News will also set to feature; they wrote two songs for the original film in 1985 – ‘The Power of Love’ and the song from which the documentary takes its title; ‘Back in Time’.

The documentary will be released by film distributors Gravitas. Director Jason Aron has stated: “As fans of the trilogy and the film-makers, it was extremely important for us to have this documentary seen by as many people as possible. We knew within minutes that the team at Gravitas would make that dream a possibility.”

The news comes a few weeks after the announcement of the new 30th anniversary DVD/Blu-Ray box set, along with the cinematic re-release of the original trilogy.
