The first image from upcoming World War II thriller, Anthropoid, starring Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy was released on Wednesday (29th July).
The film tells the true story of an operation to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich – the top-ranking Nazi General and right-hand man to both Heinrich Himmler and Adolf Hitler.
In his first outing since playing notorious playboy, Christian Grey in the hugely successful Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, Dornan stars as a Czech agent who parachutes into Nazi-occupied Europe to assassinate the General.
In an recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dornan stated that there was nothing more satisfying than playing the man who killed such an evil character: “You always need drive as an actor. Could there be any stronger drive than the opportunity to assassinate somebody so horrific? There’s nobody in the world now who can’t see that Heydrich was evil.”
The film is currently shooting in the Czech Republic, directed by BAFTA-nominated director Sean Ellis – who also co-wrote the script with Anthony Frewin. “This has been a 14 year journey to get Anthropoid to the screen,” Ellis said. “I’m incredibly proud and happy to finally tell this important story about Czech resistance during World War II.”
Toby Jones, Bill Milner, Alena Mihulov and Sam Keeley are also amongst the cast, alongside Charlotte Le Bon and Anna Geislerov.
Anthropoid is set to be released in 2016. Look at the newly released image below.
