Idris Elba has confirmed his involvement in the new Star Trek movie by appearing (and dancing) in a new video to promote an exciting fundraising event.
The entire cast of the new film came together to announce the charitable event, in which fans of the Star Trek reboot can win the chance to have a walk-on role in the next instalment of the franchise – entitled Star Trek Beyond – all whilst raising money for the several charities nominated by the actors.
The competition is run by fundraising website Omaze.com, and the winners will be the first ever fans to appear in a Star Trek film. Six runners up in the competition will also get the opportunity to visit the set and meet the cast, which includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Elba – who is making his Star Trek debut as the film’s latest villain.
The nine charities that will benefit from entrants’ donations include the Make a Wish foundation – which enriches the lives of terminally ill children – and the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which cares for children with terminal illnesses and was nominated in honour of the late Leonard Nimoy.
The winners of the competition will be chosen at random from those who have donated to the Omaze campaign. For more information about the campaign and how to enter, watch the video below.
