21-year old singer-songwriter, Ella Eyre will be releasing her own version of the England Rugby anthem ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ for the Rugby World Cup later this year.

It will be the official single in support of England Rugby and will be released on 7th September – eleven days before the opening match between England and Fiji – through Virgin EMI Records. The track will be produced by Mojam and Glyn Aikins, who have previously worked with the likes of Sam Smith and Emeli Sande.

The music video for the song will feature the Brit Award winner alongside past and present England players. Fans can also win the chance to be featured in the video by uploading their own rendition of the song to the ‘Every Voice Counts’ Facebook page or to Instagram, accompanied with the hashtag #carrythemhome. The deadline for entries to the competition is 3rd August.

The singer told of her excitement: “I’m so proud to be singing ‘Swing Low’ and getting behind the team in a World Cup year on home soil. I am really looking forward to helping bring the whole nation behind the England team. It’s inspiring to see the levels of support for the players and we’re raising money for a great cause.”

Rob Andrew, Professional Rugby Director at the RFU added: “Owned by the fans ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ is a song that is unique to England Rugby and has the power to instil a sense of hope and drive England teams forward when it’s sung at Twickenham. We are delighted that Brit Award winning artist Ella Eyre is behind the ‘Every Voice Counts’ campaign. In what will be an exciting year for England Rugby, we hope that the fans will be louder than ever and help carry the team home in 2015.”

All proceeds from the single will be donated to England Rugby’s ‘All Schools’ programme.

The 2015 Rugby World Cup commences on the 18th September at Twickenham with the match between England and Fiji. Watch Eyre’s single, ‘Deeper’, below.
