The post notifying the public of Noakes’ disappearance.

Local police have yet to formally report him as missing, but there are concerns over his safety due to the fact he has Alzheimer’s disease. His wife Vicky said: “I’m sure he’ll turn up. It’s just that he’s gone missing on the hottest day of the year so far.”

Police have begun their search for Noakes with the help of Civil Guard officers, and are following the route he takes on a regular basis. A report concerning Noakes’ disappearance was posted on their Facebook page.

He was last seen wearing marine blue shorts and a white and blue T-shirt.

Noakes remains the longest-serving Blue Peter presenter, after fronting the show for just over 12 years, from December 1965 until June 1978.

*UPDATE* Noakes has now been found. At around 18:45 local time, airborne Police in Majorca spotted him, close to his home and stuck in the bottom of a storm drain. He is now in hospital, being treated for dehydration.
