Record Store Day launches plans for Vinyl Tuesday

Record Store Day has released its plans to launch Vinyl Tuesday, a weekly stream of releases working with independent record outlets.

The event has been established by the American Association of Independent Music, with an aim to “maintain and grow physical retail” through the release of promotional records, reissues, and original special releases every Tuesday.

There will be five types of releases available on Vinyl Tuesdays: catalogue releases, commercial and promotional releases, pre-CD and digital vinyl releases, Record Store Day exclusives, and vinyl reissues.

There will also be rare chances to receive albums on vinyl format before they are released on any other platform.

On their website, coordinators in the American Association of Independent Music have outlined that the goal of Vinyl Tuesday is to “celebrate vinyl releases” on an international level, given the rise in vinyl sales over the past decade.

An official launch date for the plans are yet to be announced.
