Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone will be teaming up later this year for the third time to star in a comedy-musical, La La Land.

The pair are set to play Sebastian and Mia in contemporary Los Angeles, according to a press release from Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment.

The plot will follow the couple who will be “drawn together by their common desire to do what they love”but once both reach a substantial level of success “they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.”

At the helm is Oscar nominated director Damien Chazelle, who reportedly wrote La La Land before production began on his 2014 Best Picture nominee, Whiplash.

Originally cast in the lead roles was Miles Teller (who starred in Whiplash) and Emma Watson but due to conflict in schedules, both have left the project.

Gosling and Stone have starred together previously as lovers in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad.

Shooting is set to begin in the Autumn, with the film set to be released on 15th July 2016.
