University of Southampton’s own resident theatre, The Nuffield Theatre, has been announced as the best Regional Theatre outside of London in the annual Stage Awards.

The awards were hosted by The Stage editor, Alistar Smith, and were run at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane. The Nuffield Theatre was awarded the best Regional Theatre after being shortlisted against theatres throughout the UK.

The Nuffield Theatre has had an exciting year with the announcement of an intimate night with Tom Hiddleston, one of the associate actors of the theatre, and the announcement that their exciting original piece of theatre, A Number, will be making a run on the London stage, at the Young Vic Theatre, after a short run at the Nuffield in April.
