Records round-up: 29/11/14 – 06/12/14

This week’s records releases seem to be overpowered by boy bands, from the iconic pop group Take That who are set to release their first album as a trio III, to the rock band The Charlatans who will be unveiling another single from upcoming twelfth album Modern Nature. Elsewhere, Union J will release the title track of their second album You Got It All, and AC/DC are back with their fifteenth internationally released studio album.

The Charlatans – ‘So Oh’

Screen Shot 2014-11-29 at 15.14.58British rock band, The Charlatans, are returning this week with their second single from upcoming twelfth album Modern Nature. ‘So Oh’ follows the single ‘Talking In Tones’, the first release since the death of the band’s drummer and founder Jon Brookes. The Charlatans will be touring the UK in March 2015 in support of the new record. It was also recently announced that they will be joining Slow Club and Editors for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Jam on 12th December hosted by BBC DJ Lauren Laverne. Union J – ‘You Got It All’

Screen Shot 2014-11-29 at 15.31.11This week sees the release of Union J’s ‘You Got It All’, the second single and title track of their second album. The track was written by Nasri, lead singer of Canadian band Magic!. Having announced the single on Twitter, the track was swiftly premiered the following morning on the pop saturated radio station Capital FM. ‘You Got It All’ is a classic boy band pop track revelling in the common theme of love. The track, which will be available 30th November, just a week before the release of upcoming album of the same name, is accompanied by a monochrome video. Watch it below.

AC/DC – Rock or Bust

Rock or Bust will be AC/DC’s fifteenth internationally released studio album, showing fans that they’re still going strong. The album will be the first without founding member and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young who left the band earlier this year due to health reasons. The album’s first single ‘Play Ball’ was used in a trailer for Major League Basketball on TBS postseason coverage and was released 7th October alongside the unveiling of the album’s artwork and track listing. To promote the album and to also celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary, AC/DC will be embarking on a world tour next year. Take That – III

Now standing as a trio, the iconic boy band Take That return this week with III, the band’s first studio album in four years. Take That have had an impressive discography, having released six albums so far with the latest five topping the UK charts. ‘These Days’ was released last week as the lead single from the trio’s latest musical endeavour. The band have recently been confirmed for Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball where they will perform alongside the likes of Olly Murs and Ella Henderson in a week’s time.
