Glee cocreator, Ryan Murphy has announced that the sixth season of Fox’s hit TV show will be its last. The fifth season of the musical show has just started airing in both the UK and USA.

Murphy confirmed the news at an event on 15th October, stating that the tragic death of Cory Monteith earlier this year meant that the show runners had to come up with another ending to the show. Murphy told reporters that he had always intended the sixth season of the show to be about the story between Lea Michele and Cory Monteith’s characters (Rachel and Finn), and that the last shot of the show included him. Murphy now says that the final episode will be a kind of tribute to Monteith.

The news comes after the show’s tribute episode to Monteith aired in both the USA and UK, which featured musical tributes to the star from the actors in the show.
