Trouble for Joiners as toilets are vandalised

An act of vandalism in one of Southampton’s most loved venues is another problem for the Joiners, following its very public recent financial difficulties.

The incident happened yesterday evening (14th March), and venue owner Pat told The Edge: “We had five acts on last night. We had a lot of young girls in, and one of the ladies toilets got smashed.”

This is just another set back for the venue, in an industry which is suffering in Southampton, displayed by the Save Our Heads campaign last year. Recent benefit gigs have been held at the Joiners on Southampton’s St Mary Street featuring Frank Turner and The Vaccines to raise the vital funds that the venue needs to stay open.

However, Pat assures that tonight’s gig with Broken Links will still go ahead, saying “One cubicle will be closed tonight but the Joiners will be open for business.”

Anyone who knows anything that could be useful for the investigation is urged to contact the Hampshire Constabulary.

  1. I don’t know if you’ve ever been into the toilets at Joiners, but something tells me nobody will notice anything has changed.
