Playing at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday evening, Coldplay announced to their fans that the show would be their last for a number of years.

“This is the last big show for three years or so”, frontman Chris Martin told the crowd of 52,000 at the concert, explaining he wanted to make the show one of the best performances yet. The band are currently performing around the world on their ‘Mylo Xyloto’ world tour, with a mammoth 92 dates.

It won’t be the last fans will see of the band this year, as they are set to join Jay-Z at the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for a New Year’s Eve Concert next month. Martin has also said that the next album will be easier to pronounce than the last, leading some to think that their hiatus may be a way for the band to record their sixth studio album.
