Five Southampton University acts are currently being featured on the Independent website as part of a competition ran by The i Paper.
The five acts, Bumbleberry Folk Collective, Amelia and Danny, Glass Canyons, Tommy Hardman and Kayleigh Ramchand, all Southampton students, played a live session in the Bridge, called the i Sessions, in November to raise money for ABF – The Soldiers Charity. The gig was run by The i Paper, the concise version of the Independent. The bands played in a busy Bridge, filled with red ‘i’ balloons, and adverts for the free one month tablet subscription to the i.
The bands are now in a competition with acts from 17 different Universities, who can be voted for online until 4th January. The 5 top acts will go through to a live final in Manchester, and the winner will receive a day in the recording studio, as well as festival tickets. By voting for them, you automatically enter a draw to win an iPad mini.
The first act of the night, Amelia and Danny have only recently just started playing together. They played an acoustic cover of Beyonce’s Crazy in Love, you can see there performance, filmed by SUSUtv, and vote for them here.
The second act, singer-songwriter Tommy Hardman played an acoustic mash up of 3oh!3’s Starstruckk, and Ellie Golding’s Starry Eyed. You can see his performance, and vote for him here.
The third act, Kayleigh Ramchand, accompanied herself with a piano, singing original song ‘Lost’, you can check out here performance and vote for her here.
The fourth act of the evening, was Southampton Folk band, The Bumbleberry Folk Collective who played a track called ‘Rangoon’ that wouldn’t be out of place on the Game of Thrones soundtrack. You can here them play, and vote for them here.
