Preview: RAYE at XOYO, London

Having made her headline debut at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen last October, Londoner RAYE may be singing ‘You Don’t Know Me’ behind only Ed Sheeran in the charts yet her star shows no sign of slowing as she crosses Old Street for a second post-SECOND show in the capital. With new venue XOYO, capacity is more than doubled in the process, and attendees will be treated to an exciting young talent who last month came third behind RAY BLK and Rag’n’Bone Man in the BBC’s Sound of 2017 tastemaker poll.

Since that last top billing, her promising chart takeover has begun. Jonas Blue, the BRIT-nominated breakthrough producer, brought her on board for October’s ‘By Your Side,’ which promptly became his third successive top-15 hit. In November, she opened up for a Jess Glynne arena tour that sold every one of its 100,000-plus tickets. To close the year, she joined Jax Jones, who topped the charts once with Duke Dumont in 2014, and now sits behind only a double dose of Ed Sheeran having interpolated Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y.’s ‘Body Language’ bassline for a surprise new year smash. A keen songwriter to boot with liner credits on three other concurrent top 40 singles, the show is sure to provide a glimpse at new material for pop radio to lap up.
