Preview: Adam Kay’s Smutty Christmas Songs at Turner Sims Concert Hall, Southampton

0

For the sixth year, Adam Kay brings his annual festive feast of filth to Southampton’s Turner Sims Concert Hall.

Whilst he may not be a household name, you’ve probably seen or heard his work long before YouTube or the concept of ‘viral sensations’. The 2005 song ‘London Underground‘ and its flash animation instantly became a cult classic and seems to resurface every time there is striking of the tube service.

Originally trained as a doctor, Kay formed one half of the Amateur Transplants musical parody group with fellow medic Dr Suman Biswas. Together, the pair performed their crude medical parodies of pop songs for several years, including multiple appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

In recent years, Kay has written for several BBC Three comedies and regularly performs solo, winning Best Musical Variety Act at the 2014 London Cabaret Awards.

As the name of this show suggests, expect a show full of hilarity and profanity to kick start the Christmas misery spirit.

Adam Kay’s Smutty Christmas Songs takes place on Wednesday 9th December at 8pm. For tickets and more information, visit the Turner Sims website.
