Preview: William Control at The Joiners (28/04/15)

Former Aiden frontman Wil Francis will once again be bringing his electronic alter ego William Control to The Joiners at the end of the month, for the final UK stop of the aptly named Punishment Tour.

William Control’s sound can be best described as dark electronica, shot through with themes of sexuality, fetish and addiction. If it sounds like dark stuff, that’s because it is, but it’s dark in the best kind of way. This is rich evocative music that promises to make the Joiners feel more like a classy bordello than the grubby music venue we’ve all come to know and love. A brief warning though, if you stand on the front row you may possibly be in some danger, as it’s not unheard of for William Control to sometimes dispense light floggings as a part of his show. So don’t say you weren’t warned!

Support on the Punishment Tour comes from Bristolian goth punk lunatics Ashestoangels, who will undoubtedly be dispensing their own special brand of high energy madness to the good people of Southampton. These guys are definitely worth showing up early for, and if you happen to be a fan of Ashestoangels, they’ll be selling a highly limited number of VIP ‘Horror Cult’ tickets for the show, which allow you early entry to watch the sound check and get you an exclusive album and a whole host of other goodies.
