Preview: The War on Drugs at O2 Guildhall, Southampton (21/02/2015)

Indie/Americana rock group The War on Drugs will be making an appearance at our lovely local, the O2 Guildhall, as part a of their larger self-titled tour. Other locations on this tour include Liverpool, Manchester, London, and even further afield are a few Scandinavian festivals and even a date in Belgium.

The War on Drugs have with their most recent album release Lost in the Dream solidified their fan base. Their debut titled Wagonwheel Blues which first appeared on the music scene in 2008 started off their now undeniable popularity and success, which was solidified by the release of their second album Slave Ambient in 2011 which received widespread critical acclaim despite major changes to their line up. Through the support of their new album drop they have acquired a huge new following and recognition, which is further demonstrated through reaching second position in the UK Album Indie Charts. Elsewhere in the world Lost in the Dream peaked at twenty-sixth place in the US album chart and received widespread support in many other European countries including Denmark and Switzerland. The indie group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have been nominated for a Brit Award in the ‘Best International Group’ category, following the success of Lost in the Dream – where they are pitted against big names like Black Keys, First Aid Kid, 5 Seconds of Summer and Foo Fighters.
