Kings of new wave punk rock Rise Against are playing a sold out show at the O2 Guildhall in Southampton with Pennywise and Emily’s Army in tow.

The Chicago quartet – Tim McIlrath (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Zach Blair (lead guitar, backing vocals), Joe Principe (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Brandon Barnes (drums, percussion) – are touring the UK in support of their most recent album The Black Market which, in it’s opening week, came in at Number 2 in the UK Rock Chart and Number 3 in the US Billboard 200.

Legendary punk rock outfit Pennywise are also coming along to make the show even more tantalising. Part of the Nirvana-led revival of punk/skate/stoner rock, the four-piece from Hermosa Beach, California – Jim Lindberg (lead vocals), Fletcher Dragge (guitar, backing vocals), Randy Bradbury (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Byron McMackin (drums, backing vocals) – were signed to Epitaph Records just two years after their formation in 1988, releasing their first album Pennywise in 1991 to resounding critical positivity. They continued to garner popularity well into the 2000’s despite the tragic suicide of bassist Jason Thirsk.

Pennywise also released an album not long ago, on the same day (15/07/14) that Rise Against released The Black Market, so expect a torrent of fresh, morally upstanding but extremely angry punk rock if you have tickets for this show.

Note at the time of writing (29/10/2014) this show is sold out.
