Preview: Love Saves the Day in Castle Park, Bristol (24 – 25/05/14)

Love Saves the Day started out as a one-day event on a rainy June day in 2012. In just two years it has become a huge, runaway success, with a full weekend of music and mayhem planned for 2014 and some huge names in modern music set to grace the stage this year. Tickets for the Saturday have already sold out, but there are still Sunday tickets available – get in quick!

Blessed with lighthearted, family-friendly vibes, a picturesque park location, and the start of the summer’s hot weather, it’s a lovely event that perfectly captures the fun-loving spirit of its host city.

Expect a showcase of the music Bristol loves: from electronic to ska, funk to dub on the main stages with DJs blasting out everything from ragga to house in the dance tent. Last year saw soul and funk legends Soul II Soul  take the stage, as well as electronic giants Bonobo and Julio Bashmore, with city favourites such as Babyhead and DJ Derek keeping it local. Chic ft. Nile Rogers finished the festival on the Sunday, playing ‘Le Freak, C’est Chic’ at the end of what had been a fantastic weekend for everyone involved.

This year the main stage’s theme is more electronic rather than soul, with DJ darling Annie Mac headlining on Saturday and SBTRKT headlining Sunday. Other performers include Eats Everything, Clean Bandit, Jamie XX and Laid Blak plus many more. Acts finish at midnight – but never fear, there are afterparties all over the city that run well into the next morning.

All in all, if you are lucky enough not to be bogged down with revision on the May long weekend, make sure to get a ticket and head West to welcome the summer in with style.

Sunday tickets for £35 and detailed line-up information are available here
