Maxïmo Park head to Portsmouth’s Pyramids Centre as they kick off their 14 date UK tour in March. The band will squeeze in the sonic sounds of their fifth studio album, released earlier this month, amongst hits like ‘Apply Some Pressure’, ‘Our Velocity’ and ‘Books from Boxes’.

With their latest offering, Too Much Information, the band snuck into the top ten of the UK Album Chart among commercial heavyweights like Beyoncé and Lorde. This is perhaps little surprise given that they drew on the Mercury Prize winning talents of Dave Okumu and Field Music’s Brewis brothers. On the back of this success, they will bring their usual energetic and eclectic set to the south coast from the Newcastle home of which they are so proud.

Ten years after the release of their debut single ‘The Coast is Always Changing’, the vitality of the Geordie five-piece hasn’t waned. Front man Paul Smith is as famous for his on-stage scissor kicks as he is for his poetic lyrics. This combined with cascading guitar chords and angular keyboard synths will be sure to excite their loyal fans and invigorate newcomers in equal measure.
