Preview: Devil Sold His Soul at The Cellar (16/10/2013)

Post-hardcore veterans Devil Sold His Soul are back and touring with their new vocalist, Paul Green, this October in the UK and Germany. Since 2004, when the band formed out of the remains of Mahumodo, the band has released three critically acclaimed studio albums, with a fourth pencilled in for 2014.  What is going to be particularly interesting about this tour is seeing whether Green is up to the job as a replacement for Edward Gibbs, who left the band on good terms following this year’s music festival season and whether the new vocalist prompts a new direction for the band’s sound. Expect a set list primarily comprised of tracks from their most recent (and most ambient) album, Empire of Light, bolstered by some new material if we are lucky.

Supporting them as special guests for the UK leg of the tour are We Butter The Bread With Butter, an Experimental Metalcore quartet with a penchant for stealing the show with their amazing live performances. The band will take over headlining duties from Devil Sold His Soul once the tour hits Germany to showcase their third studio album Goldkinder, which was released earlier this year on the 9th of August.

Also Appearing are Palm Reader, a relatively new band from Woking who released their debut album Bad Weather  this year in May, a record that was mixed and mastered right here in Southampton. Palm Reader proved that they can pump up a crowd with their sets at Leeds, Reading and Download Festivals, and look set to provide a smashing opener for Devil Sold His Soul,

You can get tickets for their show at The Cellar on the 16th of October here
