It’s been an interesting year for the student four-piece, mainly because a year pretty much sums up the entirety of their existence having formed in November 2011. Having won the Battle of the Bands heat earlier this April and then going on to win the full competition, an increasing number of people have taken an interest in the young talent that is Triassic.
After toiling for “literally hours in the studio” the début EP from the indie rock group titled A Thousand Leagues Down is appropriately launched at the site of their very first gig (the aforementioned heat), at the iconic Talking Heads alongside some of their favourite acts.
Fellow student Dan Tovey will start the set with his delicate, acoustic sound that has graced a variety of gigs and open-mics over the past year while the tender lyrics and stripped-back approach of tracks will put you in a contemplative mood.
Rob The Liar (real surname Chapman) is another acoustic act with a slight political edge. After supporting Sean McGowan during the sold out performance at the Joiners earlier this November, this will be another chance to see Rob perform. As he digs deep into his own personality to craft a punk-folk style alongside stunning lyrical creativity, the tone will be nicely set.
The three-piece of Noyo Mathis will provide the conduit between these styles and Triassic with intricate rhythms and a punky attitude. Introducing a bit more electricity to the bill, the band will be performing a variety of tracks including songs from their EP Tethers.
So there you have it. If you want the opportunity to get Triassic’s EP for free, be sure to get there when doors open at 7pm as supplies are limited. For only £5, you have the chance to support some of the most promising local acts in a rejuvenated Talking Heads, while Triassic’s energy is not to be missed.
