This week’s round-up consists of a varietal collection, ranging from folk to rock to pop. Amongst this arrives the highly-anticipated release of Ariana Grande’s second album, My Everything. The album’s lead single, Problem, which features Iggy Azalea, topped the UK charts upon its release; could the album do the same? Royal Blood and Maroon 5 also feature.
Royal Blood – Royal Blood
Brighton-based rock duo, Royal Blood, will be releasing their first LP this week. To date, the duo have released four singles from their upcoming self-titled début record. Although their singles did not chart very well, the duo have made an impressive live image of themselves having supported Arctic Monkeys’ during their Finsbury Park shows earlier this year; an apt match as the duo’s sound resembles a blues-rock feel similar to the Alex Turner fronted band. Royal Blood also performed at Glastonbury Festival, T in the Park and more recently, Reading Festival, amongst others. Their début album, Royal Blood, is due for release 25th August.
Dry The River – Alarms in the Heart
Having released their début album, Shallow Bed, two years ago, the London-based folk-rock band, Dry The River, are back with a new album entitled Alarms in the Heart. The upcoming album has spawned two singles so far, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Everlasting Light‘. The former was premiered by Zane Lowe 16th June and is accompanied by a video shot earlier this year in South London’s Rivoli Ballroom. Dry The River’s upcoming album will be available to purchase 25th August via Transgressive Records.
Ariana Grande – My Everything
Ariana Grande will release her highly-anticipated second studio album on Monday, a follow-up to her 2013 Yours Truly. Her début album reached number one in the US and reached the top ten in the UK, peaking at seven. Despite not having a single that reached the top 40 in the UK before 2014, Grande has topped worldwide charts with the lead single from My Everthing, ‘Problem’. The track features Iggy Azalea and reached number one in the UK. Grande also features in Jessie J’s track, ‘Bang Bang’, also alongside Nicki Minaj. ‘Bang Bang’ will be available on Grande’s deluxe version of My Everything. Listen to the lead single of the album, ‘Problem’, below.
Maroon 5 – ‘Maps’
Maroon 5’s new single, taken from the band’s upcoming fifth studio album, V, is entitled ‘Maps’ and beholds the band’s iconic infectious tune supported by Adam Levine’s renowned vocal range. V is a follow-up to 2012’s Overexposed, which spawned the hit singles ‘Payphone’ and ‘One More Night’. The band have also had many other commercial hits, spanning from 2002 to the present day, including ‘She Will Be Loved’ and ‘Moves Like Jagger’, with the latter featuring Christina Aguilera. ‘Maps’ will be available to purchase tomorrow.
