Glastonbury 2014 news: Lana Del Rey performs

Lana Del Rey took to the Pyramid Stage today (Saturday 28th June) at 4 o’clock to make her Glastonbury début.

Del Rey’s set consisted of 11 tracks, which encompassed songs from her first album as well as the Paradise edition. She also included songs from her most recent album, Ultraviolence, which secured top spot in UK charts last week.

‘Young and Beautiful’ also featured on the singer-songwriter’s set list, which was part of the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, released last year.

Del Rey sported a tropical dress with a tie dye style. Aesthetically sophisticated and simple, Del Rey emphasised how she puts her vocals at the forefront of the performance, letting the emotive lyrics do the work as opposed to the visual production of the stage.

Lighting up a cigarette during her mesmerising performance, Del Rey brought a more relaxing and tame performance in utter juxtaposition to what audiences should expect from the headliner of the same stage this evening: Metallica.
