The 19-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (23rd January) morning on suspicion of drag racing and driving under the influence.
The police have told NBC6 in South Florida that Bieber was driving a rented Lamborghini at the time of the arrest. No further details are currently known.
The arrest comes a week after Bieber’s Los Angeles home was searched by police following allegations that he had thrown eggs at a neighbouring property. The search led to one member of his team being arrested for allegedly possessing cocaine. Last year he was warned by police after they received complaints of him driving recklessly and playing loud music late into the night.
In 2011, a 16-year-old Justin Bieber said he would never run into problems with drugs or alcohol like other child stars because he had such a strong support system behind him.
In July, there was more trouble as marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from one of the singer’s tour buses at the US-Canada border, although Bieber was not in the vehicle at the time.
On 24th December Justin Bieber announced that he was “officially retiring” but this was later denied by his management team.
