Union Films: What’s Coming Up This Week (02/02/15 – 09/02/15)

Exams are over and its time for out first event of 2015 at Union Films, as well as an exciting week of movies. From comedy to animation, the latest blockbusters to the classics, what do we have in store this week?

horrible_bosses_2Horrible Bosses 2, Tuesday 3rd February at 7.00pm

The sequel to the 2011 comedy, Horrible Bosses 2 sees Nick, Dale and Kurt return as they attempt to set up a business selling their own invention, the ‘Show Buddy’. But after they’re cheated by an investor, the three come up with a plan to kidnap and ransom said investor to recoup their losses.

 

of_horses_and_menOf Horses and Men, Wednesday 4th February at 7.30pm

Our Phoenix film of the week, Of Horses and Men is a drama set in the Icelandic countryside, dealing with several interwoven tales about the lives of rural Icelanders, told through the perception of a horse.

With stunning cinematography and a dry sense of humour, it’s a must-see film for any art house or indie cinema fan.

 

incrediblesThe Incredibles, Thursday 5th February at 7.oopm – Free Screening

The next in our series of free Throwback Thursday films brings us the modern Pixar classic, The Incredibles.

The Parrs are a family of former superheros and their super-powered children, living in secret. When Bob, AKA Mr Incredible, is contacted by an unknown individual with the offer of becoming a superhero again, the entire family is forced into action to save the world.

 

toy story trilogy union filmsThe Toy Story Trilogy, Saturday 7th February at 6.00pm

Coming up on the 7th of February we’ve got our first marathon of the calendar year, all three of Pixar’s Toy Story movies back to back! Come re-watch the ground breaking trilogy about the adventures of a group of toys, including the cowboy Woody (Tom Hanks) and the spaceman Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who come alive when their owner Andy isn’t around.

As well as the three movies, we have various things planned for the marathon, including a range of special themed cocktails served at the Diner bar, and a dress up competition! See the events page on the Union Films site for more details and book your tickets now.

lion kingThe Lion King, Sunday 8th February at 5pm – Free screening

If four classic Disney Pixar films were not enough then we have a further treat for you. Disney’s epic, The Lion King is the story of Simba, a lion cub and future King of the ‘Pridelands’, who is forced to flee in exile. Growing outside the pride, Simba is eventually forced to face his destiny and Scar.

This showing is in aid of Hope for Children and we hope our audience give generously to this cause.

 

Horns Movie Picture (6)Horns, Sunday 8th February at 8pm

A dark comedy thriller starring Daniel Radcliffe. After his girlfriend is murdered, Ig Perrish is suspected of being involved, and is shunned by his community. Shortly afterwards he discovers he has grown a mysterious pair of horns and has gained the ability to force those he meets to reveal their darkest desires to him. He sets out to uncover the true killer and clear his name using his new found powers.
