Introducing: Fickle Friends at Boardmasters 2017

This year’s line-up for Boardmasters is stellar. Stormzy, Two Door Cinema Club and Alt-J will be playing, and there’ll be DJ appearance from Idris Elba, known for hard-hitting roles such as DCI Luther in the eponymous BBC police-drama ‘Luther’. But, it’s not just the big artists we can expect some great performances from, here, we take a look at a less well-known band, ‘Fickle Friends’, who will be playing at Boardmasters this August.

The Brightonion band have been on the rise since they formed in 2013, and recently supported The Kooks at the O2 Guildhall in Southampton on 4th May. Amazingly, they’ve played at over 50 festivals in the last two years without a recording contract! Currently the band are recording their debut album in Los Angeles, so at this year’s Boardmasters we can definitely look forward to some more music, which may or may not be different from the band’s native indie-pop.

With Natassja Shiner playing keyboard and sharing her unique voice with the crowd, we can definitely expect great things from Fickle Friends when they take the stage this August. Other members of the band are Jack Wilson on keyboard, who also does a lot of the behind the scenes techno bits that the band’s songs are renowned for, Harry Herrington on bass guitar, Sam Morris on drums and Chris Hall on guitar.

So far their most famous singles are ‘Swim’ and ‘Play’. Although the music videos for these singles haven’t exceeded 400,000 views per video, the band are fast gaining popularity with the music video for their newest single ‘Hello Hello’ having being viewed over 100,000 times on YouTube.

Fickle Friends’ songs are upbeat, they don’t conform to the rest of pop music by being about drugs and sex, and, they’re great songs for a festival with such a relaxed vibe as Boardmasters’, so make sure that you don’t miss their performance if you’re heading down to Newquay this August!
