Becky Hill has come a long way since appearing on the reality television competition The Voice two years ago. On the TV show Hill joined Jessie J’s team, and was eliminated in the semi-finals, but unlike so many reality TV contestants she didn’t just disappear into obscurity, the 20 year old songstress from Worcestershire used the publicity to her advantage.
In 2013 Hill featured on Wilkinson’s top 10 hit ‘Afterglow’, and she had another high profiled guest appearance in 2014 with Rudimental (on single ‘Powerless’). However it wasn’t until her collaboration with Oliver Heldens on his number on hit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ that people really started to sit up and take note of the star rapidly rising before their eyes.
The singer blends electronic beats with her ethereal vocals. Single ‘Losing’, which was produced by MNEK, is catchy slice of electro-pop. Add little bit of Katy B, a little bit of Jess Glynne and a dash of Rita Ora for good measure, and you might come close to Hill’s own brand of dance-pop. With relatable lyrics and excellent production, ‘Losing’ is surely a sign of great things to come from Hill’s debut record, due out in July.
Becky Hill is currently working on her debut album, which will be released on July 6th 2015.
