The Edge’s Alternative Freshers’ Guide

0

So, Freshers will be descending upon us soon and I’m sure we’ve all been anticipating this for a long time – the long queues, pointing people in every direction and using the Maths Building as a rough guide when directing to Avenue Campus – not to mention figuring out how we can try to regain our lost first year and be ‘cool’ with Southampton’s newuns.

For those who still feel they need a not-so-definitive second, third or even fourth year guide to Freshers’ Fortnight, here you go!

Saturday 21st – The free SO:Fest Festival at the Guildhall Square

Sunday 22nd – Jesters’ Full Moon, Bright and Tight Beach Party! or SoBar Foam Party

Monday 23rd – Make the most of the free burgers being given out at The Stag’s Head BBQ.

Tuesday 24th – Star Trek Into Darkness at Union Films, but do give Freshers a chance to get a seat!

Wednesday 25th – Anyone fancy crashing the Halls Fest at Oceana?

Thursday 26th – Everyone loves a bit of Karaoke at The Stag’s Head.

Friday 27th – You choose the music at The Jukebox in The Bridge tonight.

Saturday 28th – Some freshers are having a Superheroes and Villains theme at Junk so, if that’s your style, why not? I for one will be back in Jesters!

Sunday 29th – It’s a day before Uni officially starts, but if you feel the need, the Oktoberfest at Jesters (the colder equivalent of the Cider Fest) will be taking place!

Monday 30th – Either: Oceana ft. Zane Lowe, Redlight (and many more) OR: SoBar Battle of the Humanities

Tuesday 1st OctoberUnion Films is showing This Is the End.

Wednesday 2nd – Student Therapy at Oceana. Remember to check your timetable so you don’t miss that all important first 9am of the semester!

Thursday 3rd – Tonight is the opener for Lennon’s brand new club night, BANG! The Jukebox.

Friday 4th –  Club Psychedelia’s Birthday weekend at The Cellar and Lennons

Saturday 5th – Club Psychedelia’s Birthday weekend at The Cellar and Lennons (cont.)

Sunday 6th – Despicable Me at Union Films or SoBar All Day Fest. I know where I’ll be! Let the minion language commence!

There you go! Look out for other nights out and share them with The Edge on Facebook or Twitter so we can let everyone know!

(N.B: Any missed days should be filled with good Jestering, SoBar-ness and plenty of going out in Bedford or town. Or finishing off that all-important reading for the semester ahead!)
