Megan Downing, Edge Live Editor (ranked the album #1):

The Maccabees third studio album ‘Given To The Wild’ is beautifully crafted. As a die hard fan I fully understand the progression achieved between the three albums and Given To The Wild shows The Maccabees at their maturest and, in my opinion, at their best. It is how an album should sound, with an introduction (Given To The Wild intro) and one song neatly progressing into the next; it feels like a body of work rather than a collection of singles.

George Edwards, Edge reader (ranked the album #2):

I was not a massive fan of The Maccabees, but this album changed everything! It is the most atmospheric album I have heard in a long while. It manages to combine catchy songs like ‘Pelican’ with really beautiful slower tracks such as ‘Forever I’ve Known’. Undoubtedly one of my favourite albums of the year.

  • Ranked #6 on NME’s “Albums of the Year” list
  • Ranked #5 on The Fly’s “Top 50 Albums of 2012” list
  • Ranked #11 on DIY’s “Top Albums of 2012” list
