Your Sabbs Interrogated – Part II

0

Following on from Part I, the three other bright-eyed sabbs gave us their thoughts about Smarties, Sandshrew and Sean Penn.

Chloe Green, VP Welfare and Communities

Favourite Colour?

Green? Yeah I’d say green; it’s fresh and bright plus it’s my surname which is a nice coincidence.

First gig?

The first concert I went to was Gabrielle. I was eleven years old and she was my idol haha. But the first real gig I went to that could be considered a bit more ‘cool’ was The Red Hot Chilli Peppers in about 2006.

Favourite band?

Currently, at right this moment I’d say Band of Horses. Of all time though, I’d have to say Radiohead.

If you had to be any Pokémon as part of the sabb team, which one best represents you?

Hmm, I’m thinking of my characteristics and then what Pokémon that could relate to. I think I’d be the Charizard of the sabb team because I sort of look like I could be scary, but then you look at Charmander and he is so cute and really sweet! So scary, but also quite adorable. Also Charizard is really firey, aggressive and has all these wings, so yeah I’d say him.

Favourite film?

There’s quite a few, but I’d have to say Milk with Sean Penn, directed by Gus Van Sant. It’s a really, really good film and I love it. But two others up there are potentially Into The Wild – a bit of a Sean Penn fest here – and Juno, just for its stylistic flair.

Worst film?

The worst film I’ve ever seen is The Room. It’s got a cult following with midnight showings in London and New York because it’s so unbearably and unbelievably terrible. It’s abominable, but I sort of love it because it’s so funny. So yeah my worst film is The Room.

David Gilani, VP Communications

Favourite colour?

It’s got to be blue. I’ve always had a blue wall in my room and I like how it’s not many foods, other than the blue Smartie until they took it away and then everyone wanted it back! Also, it was my campaign colour.

First gig?

I think it was Jack Penate and a club in Kingston called New Slang when I started clubbing. Although that doesn’t sound right because I would have been eighteen. Well, it might have been the first one I ever saw when I was eighteen, and on one of my first ever club nights, he was playing live there.

Favourite band?

It does change quite regularly! I’ve always like OneRepublic and they’re an American band who made the ‘Apologise’ song fronted by Ryan Tedder. He’s a very good songwriter and performer so I always thought if I was going to go into music I’d try and follow his style.

If you had to be any Pokémon as part of the sabb team, which one best represents you?

First of all, best question I’ve ever heard! I would love the idea of the sabb team being Pokémon and all of SUSU being Pokémon based. I’d probably have to say Dragonite. He’s the kind of guy who can be friendly, cool, cute looking and be nice to you but at the same time he is a bad-ass! He will get stuff done, he is immune to everything and doesn’t get bossed around. So yeah, Dragonite.

Favourite film?

Anchorman. Easy answer; comedy is my favourite genre and Anchorman is my comedy.

Worst film?

Haha, I’m going to have to think about this! I’d have to go for The Expendables. It’s not a terrible film in terms of the explosions and the cast. It’s got people like Sylvester Stalone, but he wrote the script. The dialogue at some of the points in the film are fantastically bad, so that clinches it for me.

Dean Jones, VP Sports Development

Favorite colour?

I’m going to have to say green. It’s changed over time; I used to really like blue and then red but with recent events, obviously green has grown on me quite a lot.

First gig?

In terms of actual, proper gigs I’ve only been to one or two in my whole life. I went to see Maxïmo Park at the Guildhall in my first year of uni. When I was younger, there were loads of local bands that I used to go and see nearly every week; none that ever made it big and that you’ll ever have heard of!

Favourite band?

I don’t listen to that much these days, but I always used to really love Jimmy Eat World and I had all of their albums. Generally now, I just listen to the radio and see what comes on.

Favourite film?

Again, I hardly ever watch films!  My girlfriend is really into films and she always gets really annoyed with me that I never really want to watch them. I’ll give you an answer from a while ago; I really used to like Fight Club but more recently, I’m not so sure. I generally like films I watch and rarely dislike anything I watch.

Worst film?

I remember going to the cinema when I was a lot yonger and it was the only time I ever walked out of a cinema because it was so bad. It was Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It’s stuck with me all that time because we only saw the first half of that. But generally films sometimes underwhelm me, especially if they’ve had some big hype. Slumdog Millionaire disappointed me a bit and The Hurt Locker was a bit underwhelming; I think they got built up a bit too much through their reputation.

If you had to be any Pokémon as part of the sabb team, which one best represents you?

That’s hard really. First of all it would have to be one with a three stage evolution so I could grow into the role if you will. Someone I always liked when I was younger was Sandshrew, so I’ll go with him. I know there’s only two stages of evolution but you can start of a bit withdrawn maybe and then power on through.
