Based on the hit film of the same name, 9 to 5 begins a run at The Stage Door next month from 21st October. Full of boot stomping Dolly Parton hits, 9 to 5 tells the story of three women who learn that there’s nothing they can’t do, even in a mans world!
Violet, Judy and Doralee have had enough of the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot that they call a boss! They concoct a plan to get even and give their boss the boot! Whilst he is ‘otherwise engaged’ they live out their wildest dreams, giving their workplace a makeover and taking control of the company that had always kept them down.
Featuring new music from super star country singer Dolly Parton, as well as the classic title song, this musical displays the true fight of feminism in a world over powered by men.
9 to 5 is the latest musical produced by Music Theatre South, who have had a fantastic year since taking up residency at The Stage Door. They were the company behind sell out runs of Green Day’s American Idiot and Pasek and Paul’s Dogfight. The Stage Door is Southampton’s only cabaret style, fringe theatre and is located in the cultural quarter just off the Guildhall.
