Earlier this year it was announced that the smash hit show Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage would be returning to the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.
The musical is based on the coming of age film Dirty Dancing (1987), an unexpected box-office hit with a low budget, which is now revered as a chick-flick classic. The story follows 17-year old Francis “Baby” Houseman as she searches for her independence from familial constraints, while inadvertently falling for her dance instructor during her family’s summer vacation.
The show opened in London’s Aldwych Theatre back in 2006, and after taking up residence for five hugely successful years, it went on to sell out theatre venues on its UK tour. Hailed as the fastest ever selling West End show, the hotly-anticipated show is back in Southampton and is not to be missed.
Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage is now playing at the Mayflower Theatre, with its last performance on Saturday 28th June. You can buy your tickets here.
